IMAGINE

This is our vision for The Lab School of Washington.

imagine:

  • a school with a history as the pioneer in learning differences education and the determination to continue to boldly trail blaze.
  • a school where children who think and learn differently are recognized, celebrated, and empowered by professionals who explore and implement the newest and most effective teaching innovations.
  • a school where the boundaries are removed...where classrooms, laboratories, studios, and athletic facilities are fluid, interactive, and designed to inspire 21st-century success.
  • a school that redefines the very meaning of "school," that integrates learning experiences indoors, outdoors, within the community, and across continents.
  • the impact that school could have on the future of our children...our community...our world.
  • That is our vision for The Lab School of Washington.

Our vision is ambitious and eminently important. We know we can fulfill our vision with your support of our capital campaign.

The Lab School needs to be seen as the model of what schools should look like for everybody. It’s precious because they have concentrated on the kids for whom traditional school has not worked. They have invented a better kind of school.
— David Rose, Founder and CEO CAST, International Leader in Education R&D, Lecturer, Harvard Graduate School of Education

Lab School has a tradition of being bold. Our master plan for the school
is no exception. We will raise $12 million through our Capital Campaign
to finance the anticipated $26.6 million cost of our facilities and endowment
improvement program.

Building upon our almost 50-year tradition of creativity, innovation, imagination, and stimulation, Lab’s capital campaign will allow us to retain our position as the foremost educational facility in the field of learning differences.

Making this building work in the challenging, small linear space is a lot like the kids at Lab who learn how to work around their challenges. Poetically, it fits the school’s can-do attitude that anything works if you look at it from enough angles.
